The 1-70 was one of Victor's tabletop Orthophonics, although it had neither the folded Orthophonic horn, nor the Orthophonic reproducer.

Instead of the Orthophonic reproducer, the 1-70 had a Victor No. 4 reproducer, which had a larger diaphragm than that of the No. 2
