The Columbia BC 20th Century has a Higham reproducer which used a technique of 'friction amplification' to provide greater volume. The larger 4-inch diaphragm may have had a considerable effect on the volume as well

This close-up shows the side angle of the Higham reproducer in front of the 6-inch mandrel which plays standard 2-minute cylinders, as well as 6-inch long three minute '20th Century' cylinders

In this detail of the reproducer, the black vulcanized rubber 'shoe' can be seen wrapped around the amber friction wheel.

This magnificent cast iron-based Pathe 'La Ministrel' cylinder player was a steal at $2200.

This gold-plated hardwared mahogony Victor 6 sat atop an amazingly beautiful cabinet. Several of these were also seen at the show, although this was clearly the nicest!
